Our ongoing collection of Veterans' Voices Videos

Veterans' Voices is an initiative from creator Deprise Brescia.  By design we created an art exhibition that was preceded by multiple workshops and classes created to build bridges through art.  As part of our mission to support the arts through outreach, we are able to touch the lives of many and uplift ourselves and our communities in the process.  The "pay if forward" concept is embraced and demonstrated through a variety of programs.  Come join us as we experience the healing power of art.

February 10, 2019 Family Paint Day

Our February Family Paint day for Veterans and their families was a wonderful way to try a new art activity.  Shells from the sea in all shapes and sizes were the focus.  Embellishing frames and designing creative compositions was the fun part.  Participants could either keep their work or share it in the March 2019 exhibition at Studios on the Park.  Not all participants wished to be filmed, so we accommodate by excluding those individuals.

January 2019 American Dream Group Project

Our January Family Paint day for Veterans and their families was a wonderful way to get ready for the coming month long exhibition with some fulfilling and  bonding art activities.  The choice of subject was left up to the individuals. The group mural project was called The American Dream and everyone was encouraged to illustrate their version with or without an explanation.  All of the wonderful works that would be on display for sale through the Veterans Voices Returns Art Exhibition.

Nov 11, 2018 Veterans Family Paint Day Video

Another Veterans Family Paint Day where our service people and their families were invited to participate in these bonding art activities for free.  Perfect meditative art time for all involved.  We double dipped with two FREE art activities in the same week only days apart in honor of Veterans Day on the 9th and our regular monthly scheduling of Veterans Family Paint days on the 11th.  What a spectacular time by all who participated.

Veterans Day Face Painting Nov 2018

November 9, 2018 we painted faces in SLO at the Farmers Market in honor of Veterans and active military who served and are still serving our country.  Our presence and inclusion in the arts is helping to build bridges between our service and civilian communities.  Art activities have been proven to be a positive element in ones life, here we are using it to build friendships and remind people life can and should be fun... so get your face painted and laugh a little.
